(Too bad - I was sort of looking forward to buying a new and fancier printer but now have no compelling reason to do so!) As suggested, I went thru the procedure in the MG2920 manual to get the printer to print out its Client PIN and subsequently get it into what I will call "connection mode". Instead, as suggested by Jan (above), I tried the WPS route and this was ultimately successful. Despite a number of tries, I was unsuccessful in reconnecting my Mac to the (old, basic) Canon MG2920 inkjet printer via the simple install software originally used to connect just after purchase of the printer, primarily because the install software is 32-bit and I couldn't find a 64-bit equivalent. Many thanks to all for the useful suggestions. 187-206 in the MG2900 series (PDF) User Manual (Mac). It should be possible to manually install downloaded drivers and extra software.Īt this point, you may want to test whether the Canon IJ Network Tool Ver.4.7.2 (Mac) would work wirelessly (LAN), without a USB cable, for any remaining (necessary) network configuration. If this does not work as intended, you could perhaps try to stop once the printer and router have been connected. Thereafter, continued configuration and software installation. You may notice that a connection is established at 1:14. If the new router can use WPS (see the router manual), you could try the WiFi Protected Setup on a Mac video mentioned in my previous message. See page 183 in the MG2900 series (PDF) User Manual (Mac). What makes this printer a bit more difficult to set up is of course the fact that it has a very limited operation panel, without a display.įirst of all, I think it would be a good idea to (from the operation panel) print a Network Setting Information page with the current settings.
